Sales Associate (Part-Time)

As a Southern Lion Sales Associate, you are an ambassador of our brand and culture. You connect with customers, create beautiful shopping experiences, and help them discover pieces that transform their homes. You play a key role in maintaining a welcoming store environment, strengthening merchant relationships, and supporting events and merchandising that bring our store to life.

Position Summary

The Sales Associate is the cornerstone of the Southern Lion experience. This part-time role goes beyond sales — combining client engagement, product expertise, and collaborative support for merchandising, marketing, and events. Sales Associates ensure every guest feels welcomed, inspired, and guided through their purchase journey, while also helping the store meet strategic sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Warmly greet and engage customers, providing a personalized and consultative shopping experience.
• Understand client needs, style, and budget to recommend products that help them design their dream space.
• Become a product expert — developing in-depth knowledge of Southern Lion’s full assortment and merchant offerings to make informed recommendations and assist with strategic sales initiatives.
• Meet and exceed sales goals while contributing to overall store performance.
• Maintain a beautiful, organized, and clean sales floor — including daily dusting, restocking, and product staging.
• Support floor resets, seasonal merchandising updates, and vendor booth changes to keep displays fresh and inspiring.
• Assist with registers, transactions, and other operational tasks at the discretion of management.
• Work with management and warehouse team to ensure smooth fulfillment and timely customer pick-ups.
• Participate in daily huddles, contribute ideas to improve store flow, sales opportunities, and marketing efforts.
• Stay current on product lines, market trends, and store promotions.
• Perform additional administrative duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail or hospitality; furniture/home décor sales is a major plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a consultative approach to selling.
• Ability to become a knowledgeable product expert and resource for both customers and team members.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the sales floor for extended periods and safely lift or move merchandise.
• Comfort with POS systems, handling transactions accurately and securely.
• Flexibility to work weekends and special events.
